About AJB Stonecraft

​

My name is Adrian John Blant, owner of AJB Stonecraft. I am an experienced stone carver based in Ryedale, on the western edge of the North York Moors.

How it all began.

​

I began trading in 2004, having developed my skills through hands-on training, employment and many years working with natural stone.

Since then, I have undertaken public works for local and borough councils, carried out restoration work on Grade I and Grade II listed buildings, taught college students, and created bespoke stone carvings, memorials, house signs and commissioned pieces.

​

My work combines traditional craftsmanship with an individual approach to design, with each piece carefully carved by hand

 

Developing my craft

My experience has also taken me much further afield. I have worked extensively in the United States as part of a stonework crew under the direction of an internationally renowned British land artist.

​

Over the years, my work has increasingly focused on stone carving, traditional letter cutting and relief carving. I have gained experience working alongside a monumental mason and further developed my traditional letter-cutting skills through specialist training with The Orton Trust.

​

The landscape, wildlife and traditions of North Yorkshire are a constant influence on my work. I particularly enjoy creating individual pieces that reflect their surroundings, whether that's a hand-carved memorial, house sign, relief carving, garden sculpture or completely bespoke commission.

 

Bespoke Stone Carving Commissions

I am available for bespoke commissions, from hand-carved memorials and traditional stone lettering to house signs, relief carvings, garden sculptures and individual pieces created to your own ideas.

I work predominantly with natural stone and take pride in traditional craftsmanship, originality and attention to detail. Every commission is approached individually, allowing the design, lettering and choice of stone to suit both the client and its setting.

Based in Ryedale, I work throughout the North York Moors, Yorkshire Coast, Ryedale and Yorkshire Wolds, and I am happy to travel further afield for suitable commissions.

​

I also have established links with quarries, suppliers, craftspeople and artists, allowing me to source suitable materials and collaborate where a project requires it.
